Givonie Dereesha Johnson was born on July 25, 1992 in Chicago, Illinois.  At the age of one, she and her mother moved to Hopewell, Virginia where her parents were married.  Givonie and her family then relocated to Prince George, Virginia where she attended middle and high school, graduating in June of 2010.  Givonie found a love of music in 5th grade and has been a lifelong band student. 

While attending Prince George High School, Givonie became involved with her high school yearbook staff, and was appointed as a design editor in her second year.  She became a member of PGTV, a school-wide televised news station.  This is where Givonie discovered her love of media and journalism. 
After graduation, Givonie was offered seven scholarships, but chose a full academic scholarship to Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) in North Carolina.  Once at WSSU, Givonie chose her major to be in Mass Communications with a concentration in electronic media.  She has completed a number of individual media projects as well as a number of group projects all while being a member of WSSU's marching band, the Red Sea of Sound and carrying a full academic schedule.  Givonie has risen to the occasion, meeting each challenge with perseverance and graduated Cum Laude with her B.A. in Mass Communications in May of 2014.
In May 0f 2016 she was admitted into Mount Saint Mary's University in Los Angeles, California. She is currently attending the university in pursuit of a MFA degree in Film and Television.
